Seal detection

Seal detection using a camera inspection system.

The challenge

In a semi-automated assembly line rubber seals are fitted to brake assembly covers for HGV trucks. Sometimes the seals may not be present on the cover plate, which can cause quality and safety issues for the end user.

The solution

An Omron vision system can be employed to overcome this problem using the brightness tool. This tool verifies objects using density average and deflection. If no seal is present at the cover plate less light will be reflected.

Added value

The vision system contains up to 8 different tools; one can be selected at a time. These tools offer an economic sensor with a very intuitive user interface. So using the vision system results in improved quality with minimal cost of implementation.
