Displacement measurement of press machine mold

Correct alignment of press dies prevents defective molds.

The challenge

Occasionally misplacement of the mold resulted in defective molding. The required accuracy:

• Tolerance: +/-50 micro meter
• Resolution: +/-5 micro meter

The solution

Measure the displacement value of the mold and control the condition of forming. This is done with two laser displacement sensor heads and a multi-controller.

It is key in this application that the distance between the upper and lower dog (with two sensor heads) is measured this is possible due to the multi-controller.

Added value

Damage to the mold can be prevented, which makes production more efficient.
